Community Employment Initiatives Group Inc
The Community Employment Initiatives Group (CEIG) was formed in the mid 1990's and became an incorporated Society in 2003 out of the need to share common employment concerns, information and provide support for member organisations as well as the need to develop strategies and responses to relevant government and city council policies.
CEIG is comprised of not-for-profit community trusts, incorporated societies and groups working mainly with long term unemployed or disadvantaged people in our community.
In the years since CEIG began, there have been a number of significant changes in the employment arena in New Zealand and government and local policy relating to it.
A major development of CEIG has been to establish a sound, ongoing working relationship with senior employment staff of the Ministry of Social Development including the Regional Commissioner.
This good working relationship has enabled CEIG members to draw attention to the ongoing challenges faced by clients and community groups regarding government employment policies and bring about improvements to these policies.
